About me

Hi, I’m Marta! Owner and Head Trainer of Marta’s Dog Training and Coaching, LLC. I have been training dogs since I was a kid. My training started with just me and my Lab cross Sammy, in my backyard in Wisconsin. We joined 4-H and a dog agility community, and that’s when I fell in love with dog sports and helping other people and their dogs! My first client was when I was about 12-13 years old. A few years later I got my Border Collie, Scout (mascot), who is now 11. We did agility, skijoring, obedience and more throughout my high school and college years, and still to this day. She now has two other dog ‘siblings’, Lily and Koda (and our elderly cat, Triscuit).

I went to school for 4 years with dreams to become a Wildlife Biologist. During the last few semesters of school, I started working as a Veterinary Assistant, which re-kindled my love and passion for dog behavior & helping other families’ dogs. I loved working with all the misunderstood dogs. After graduating from school in Minnesota, I moved to Colorado. I continued working as a Veterinary Assistant and training dogs on the side. Many, many trained dogs later, here I am now. Ready to help! Thank you for your support!

My goal is to better the community by providing a better understanding of the dog & human relationship through training dogs and coaching owners. The specific type of dog training I use depends on the dog, as not one training program fits all dogs. However, the general methodology of my training is: show the dog a clear picture of what we WANT and what we DON’T want. We hold dogs accountable. I firmly believe this is the most effective and fair way to train every type of dog. PLAY and FULFILLMENT are also an essential part of training. Bettering your relationship with your dog starts here. We train dogs not to be under constant militant like control, but actually to give them freedom, because when needed, we CAN control them, and they do it happily.

I am here to create a healthy relationship between the human & their beloved dog. Coach the human to train their dog. Clear communication is the most important part of this. Dogs are here to help relieve stress, not bring it! Let’s change that and get started.
